WebOct 19, 2008 · TriFlow is an excellent lube, but it does tend to attract dirt, especially when used as a chain lube. It is thinned with a solvent to allow it to effectively penetrate into tight spots. The solvent evaporates, leaving the lube in place. In that respect, it works like ProLink or home brew. WD40 is not nearly as good a lube. WebTo clean, sure. Preserve and store, awesome. But WD-40 is not a proper lubricant and when dries gums up, leaving a sticky residue. Basically your family has been shooting un-lubed guns, leading to accelerated wear, which leads to earlier failure of parts, and/or an unsafe firearm.
