Process-based model soil organic carbon
Webb1 mars 2003 · Decomposition and root respiration processes, important to C cycling in terrestrial ecosystems, are affected by soil temperature, soil moisture, and other soil properties. For studying the effect of these factors on soil CO 2 efflux and soil-air CO 2 concentration, a dynamic model was developed. WebbDOC, a new DOC process-based model was used in con-junction with the forest soil C model to simulate seasonal and annual DOC concentration and flux patterns from precipita-tion to subsoil seepage, and (b) to assess land use impacts on dynamics and temporal changes in DOC soil leaching. 2 Model description and methods

Webb30 sep. 2008 · The modeled litter (root and above-ground residue) production is one of the major processes controlling the soil C dynamics. In the DNDC model, SOC resides in four major pools: plant residues or litter, microbial biomass, humads, and active humus. Each pool consists of one or more subpools with different properties.
