Graphene exfoliation energy

WebMar 9, 2024 · As a proof of principles, we calculated exfoliation energies of graphene, hexagonal boron nitride, MoS 2 and phosphorene using density-functional theory. In addition, we found that the in-plane relaxation of an exfoliated layer accounts for 5% of one-layer exfoliation energy of phosphorene while it is negligible (< 0.4%) in the other cases. WebGenerally, the exfoliation process generates small flakes, also called platelets, of graphene, that are between one and six layers thick, as opposed to one single layer. The monolayer content can be raised to 75 percent with an additional step.
