I recently purchased a Rock Island 1911a1 cs it has the 3.5 inch bull barrel and has standard mil spec sights. I love the gun but dont care to much for the front sight. Its a little hard to aquire. WebAug 11, 2014 · FWIW: the Rock island 1911 A1 is a very sound platform for the pricepoint. I'm on 3500 rounds through my stock RIA gov't and have yet to have any issues whatsoever. In fact, I've had very few problems with feeding, jamming, stovepiping - nothing. It just shoots and shoots and shoots. I mainly shoot reloads, but they are all "full house" power.

WebIf you want to learn about 1911's i would suggest you get a striped frame and start from scratch and be prepared to spend as much just on tools and supply's to build it as your Rock cost not counting parts in the cost. A lot of parts need to be fitted so unless you are prepared to do that do not even think about it.
